Netherton Foundry x Borough Kitchen Heavy-Duty Frying Pan

Made in collaboration with Netherton Foundry, this exclusive spun iron frying pan has a thick 2.5mm base that resists warping. It also includes a double-seasoned finish (for stick-resistance) and a stainless steel handle that stays cool on the hob.

---DETAILS---

The result of an exclusive collaboration between Netherton Foundry and Borough Kitchen, this spun iron frying pan works similarly to a cast iron skillet or carbon steel frying pan, but is 28% more lightweight. Designed to withstand high temperatures on all hobs (including induction), the oven, barbecues, and open fires,  the pan has a uniquely thick 2.5mm base that holds heat for a long time, which is essential for high-heat searing – ideal for browning meat, vegetarian proteins, and vegetables.  It’s the right thickness to be warp-resistant yet lighter to hold. The stay-cool handle is made of seasoned stainless steel, so it can safely go in the oven or covered barbecues if needed, and stays cool when cooking on the hob. It features a hanging handle to display in a kitchen rack. It comes pre-seasoned with a double coating of flaxseed oil, so you can start cooking in the pan right out of the box, and enjoy added stick-resistance. (Note that it takes a few uses for the pan to build up a patina; to kickstart the pan’s stick-resistance, read our seasoning guide here.)  The seasoning gets better with time, use, and care, providing an excellent, eco-friendly alternative to non-stick pans. Netherton Foundry specialises in traditional British iron cookware; all their pans are made by hand in Shropshire, with utmost attention to detail.

Note: The handle has a slightly textured finish that will naturally smooth out with time and use. This is a reflection of the pan’s handmade nature.

---BENEFITS---

‘Netherton Foundry understands what cooks need out of a pan – a natural result of working with chefs and food writers like Tomos Parry (Brat) and Diana Henry. We worked with them to create a pan that has the pre-seasoned finish of cast iron, with the superior heat-responsiveness of carbon steel. This is a pan that is made to be used and loved for a lifetime.’
